1. What can Adoptive Parents gain from adopting a child?
Having a child in a marriage will put us through parenthood. Its a growing phase in life. Its a phase that we will experience better relationship with friends/close relatives as we have a common and interesting subject to share and talk about, that is "KIDS". They force us to grow up. We are no longer upset over trivial matters as there is something more important to us which is "KIDS". We tend to be more sociable, more broadminded and more forgiving. "KIDS" make us a better people.
2. What is the Child's future like back in his/her country?
When a Child is born in a less developed country, he faces uncertainty like abandonment, starvation etc. It's only through adoption that the child stand a chance of having the same equal opportunity like our kids in Singapore such as nutritional foods, good education and most importantly, love and care.
3. Are medical records of child in foreign countries available?
The Agency will try its best to obtain all medical and vaccination records. However, due to different rules and regulations in foreign countries, most records are incompleted.
4. Can we adopt a child from China (PRC) ?
With effect from 1st of April 2004, all private agencies are not allowed to arrange adoption from China. Only two organisations are authorised to do so, Touch Community Services and Fei Yue Community Services, kindly note that their services are available stricly for Singapore Citizen only.
5. Do Adoptive Parents need to travel to foreign country when adopting a child?
If the child identified is in Malaysia or Indonesia, our Agency would encourage Adoptive Parents to travel to view the child physically. However, travelling oversea is strictly optional. All documents can be processed without the need to travel oversea.
6. How are the Adoptive Parents assured that the child is in good health ?
Upon selecting and identifying a child in a foreign country, the Agency will arrange for a medical examination to be carried out in the foreign country. However, due to lack of medical facilities, only a simple and basic medical examination will be carried out. The Agency will assure the Adoptive Parents that when the child arrives in Singapore, they can bring the child to any hospital /clinic and doctor of their choice to do a comprehensive medical exmination. If child were to be found having physical defects or any serious illness to be defined by doctor as 'unhealthy', the Adoptive Parents can opt for a full refund or select another child.
7. How do you define a child as 'unhealthy'?
As defined in our written agreement, "If child were to be found having physical defects or any serious illness by a doctor as 'unhealthy', the Adoptive Parents can opt for a full refund or select another child." Opinion will be taken from a paediatrician upon the arrival of the child in Singapore.
8. How long until parents can take custody of child in Singapore?
Malaysia and Indonesia-- Within 4 weeks.
9. How long will the legal process take to complete in Singapore?
The legal process will take approx. 4 to 6 months after Adoptive Parents take custody of child in Singapore.
10. How much will the legal fee in Singapore cost?
Legal fee will cost S$2,500.
11. How much will the whole process cost?
It costs about S$25,000 to S$28,000 (excluding legal fee in Singapore).
12. How old is the child available for adoption?
Normally, children from Malaysia and Indonesia will range from newborn to 3 months. Nevertheless, we will try to work towards your preference.
13. Is Greenhouse Adoption Services an accredited Agency with any Government body ?
Unfortunately " No ". No private Adoption Agency in Singapore is accredited to any Government body. The Government body do not object nor do they endorse any Adoption Agency. Any adoption arrangement between the Agency and the Adoptive Parents is strictly considered as "private agreement" .
14. Is it better to adopt a child than a few weeks old infant?
It really depends on the Adoptive Parents' mindset, preference and competancy in handling children. Most expatriates would like to adopt a newborn while Adoptive Parents in their forties will prefer a child slightly older.
15. Is there a written agreement to protect the Adoptive Parents?
Upon identifying a child, a written agreement will be signed between the Agency and the Adoptive Parents. Terms and conditions will be stated in layman languages.
16.What is the profile of Natural Parents who are giving up child for adoption?
A typical profile of the natural parents is one that is experiencing financial hardship, raising another child would be an add-on burden, and most likely would be the third or fourth child in the family.
A small percentage would be single mothers, where they are young and need to make this decision to move on.

17. What is the responsibility of Greenhouse A S?
As an Adoption Agency, our responsibility is to ensure that all foreign country documentations are in order and the child is in good health.
18. Which countries do we arrange babies for adoption?
